All right, let’s get started. I’m excited to have Anthony Ferriell on the line today. He attended Asbury Theological Seminary, but now God has him involved in discipleship through Field USA.
While we talked, we discussed:
- How God gave Anthony the gift of patience
- What Anthony has discovered about doing things of lasting value
- Finding the time and resources to do what needs to be done
- How he's been freed up to invest in new harvest fields while staying connected to current faith communities

Life in Ministry
Anthony has been involved in full-time ministry since 1994. He was a full-time pastor for 17 years. Then, in 2011, he was connected with FieldUSA with a focus on building communities of disciples.
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (Matthew [28:19])
- Teach people to obey
- Make disciples
In 2011, when Anthony was getting started with FieldUSA and the discipleship model, God had to take him through a period of retraining. One of his biggest frustrations and areas of retraining was looking for outcomes in people.Click To Tweet Click To Tweet
Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.” (Zechariah [4:10]a NLT)
One of Anthony's deep moments of revelation was also a moment of impartation. He was meeting with some men in a hotel in Indiana when God showed up in a powerful way.
Antony shared an experience with a group of disciples he's been working with for about 2 1/2 years. Now, the community is starting to take ownership of itself. That is freeing him to go out and do new things.
Significance in the Marketplace
Anthony was a full-time pastor for 17 years. Now, as a bi-vocational minister, Anthony offered his perspective based on his experiences.
- He can earn his income in the marketplace and make disciples without compensation
- He's learned to fuse marketplace ministry and organic discipleship together
- Ministry in the marketplace can complement discipleship and organic ministry
He's also discovered that his work in the marketplace and in ministry encourages those he's discipling. When they see him ministering in that way, they realize they can do it too.Click To Tweet

Personally, I recommend the Bible. Just about any translation. You can't go wrong to have God's word available when you're driving to work, out for a walk, or working out. It's what I did when I joined Audible over 7 years ago.
