Spiritual Disciplines Resource Guide

Spiritual-PracticesOn July 30, 2014 I offered a teaching at Springhouse Worship and Arts Center. I spent about 30 minutes talking about how Spiritual Practices have impacted my life and offered some resources as well.

Several people asked me to make a list of those resources so that's what you'll find here.

Additionally, after my talk, a couple of people I trust sent me a list of additional items for consideration. I'm including them in my list but I'll make sure to give the proper credit for the recommendations.

More to Come

I'm working on additional formats, including .mobi (Kindle) and .ePub (Nook). I also hope to have the audio and video available for download soon. If you'd like to know when those are available, drop your email address in the box below (no spam from this guy).

Here's the teaching I offered. The resources are below.

  • Celebration of Discipline
One of the classics on Spiritual Disciplines, Richard Foster's book is very practical. It offers a foundation for Spiritual Disciplines but the bulk of the book is spent offering practical advice and direction for actually doing the practices.
  • Spirit of the Disciplines
Another of the classics, Dallas Willard's book is focused much more on the foundations for Spiritual Practices. It's a very intellectual read but if you've been struggling, it might be just the ticket for you.
  • Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life
Donald S. Whitney's book is practical and covers the disciplines in a slightly different manner than Willard's and Foster's.
